Sri Lanka Association of NSW
High Achievers Presentation at the Independence Day Celebrations
4th February 2007
A message from our 2006 HSC Highest Achiever Sahani Pathiraja:
Well, it’s really great that we have people to coordinate occasions like this to bring our whole community together on this day, Independence Day, so firstly thankyou to the Sri Lankan association, President Wickremanayake and the executive committee and all the other organisations such as the Consulate General for organising this event. Also, congratulations to all of the other students, it is our collective result that makes for a really great achievement for the entire Sri Lankan community. On that note, I’d just like to say thankyou, on the behalf of the HSC students, to our parents for all their support and encouragement. For those of you studying for your HSC this year, I don’t really have anything revolutionary to pass on to you all but working a little everyday pays off so much more than cramming the night before, and to not put your life on hold just because you have a big exam at the end of the year. Definitely keep doing the things that you love because it will make getting through the HSC so much easier. At the end of the day finding that healthy balance between study and leisure is probably the most important thing. So, I wish every future student the best of luck and I hope you all experience the support and luck I had during my final year. Hope to see you all in the future!
